Carex scoparia - Broom Sedge
Broom Sedge (Carex scoparia) is native to much of North America and can be found in many wetland habitats. Its seedhead stems typically rise well above the narrow grasslike foliage and produce 3 - 10 spikes either all crowded together at the stem tip or overlapping but distinctly separated. The spikes are mostly elliptic in shape and are light green that turn brown at maturity. This wetland sedge is often used for rain gardens or wetland restoration as it is low maintenance and non-aggressive.

CAREX (SEDGES):
Carex is one of the largest genera of plants with about 2,000 species and a distribution almost worldwide except for tropical lowlands and in sub-Saharan Africa. All Carex are perennial, and are most commonly found in moist to wet habitats. They are also known for their distinct, condensed inflorescences or spikelets that have gained popularity as ornamental in recent years. Sedges are important in peat deposits and often used as forage for livestock, but surprisingly have a rather limited economic utility considering how widespread their distribution is.
Returns of standard seed mixes and individual species must be made in the original unopened packaging within 10 days of delivery. If you wish to return live plants, you must do so within 5 days of delivery. Returns of standard mixes, individual species, and live plants are subject to a restocking fee of 25%. Custom seed mixes may not be returned. When returning non-damaged goods, the buyer is responsible for shipping charges, and return shipping may be made by whatever means the buyer selects.
